Many of you have seen the latest news about (possible) dinosaur feathers being found in amber. What makes me a little crazy is the certainty that tons of great specimens have undoubtedly been tossed in the trash and are gone forever. Why? Because the market for amber in the past would have been for jewelry quality amber. And that means clarity. A piece with a bug in it might have caught someone's eye, but spider webs and feathers? Nah, they'd have gone on the rubbish pile. And there would go a possible dinosaur feather …
Well, at least I've got all the actual dinosaur feathers I want. All courtesy of my parakeet, a dino in modern guise.
