Do you think any of those Asian countries have come up with financial innovations like: subprime mortages, reverse mortgages, floating rate PIK preferred convertible discount securities with detachable warrants and a cherry on top? And can any of those countries boast of the debt laden balance sheet that we have? Ha!
It’s easier and cheaper to manufacture overseas. And the laws and regulations can be changed so we can make stuff here again, but the majority does not vote that way. Almost nobody votes to create/save manufacturing jobs. Who introduces bills to do this? Nobody elected.
Phones that are made in Malaysia? Wow. I’ve never seen one before, and I’ve lived in Malaysia all my life. Most of the stuff here are manufactured in China too, with the occasional Thailand. The government is trying to get us to buy local-made products, which really aren’t that bad–if you don’t count automobiles and overall tech stuff.
