I guarantee that she’s not the first wife of a nerd to mix up Star Wars and Star Trek. Now to see whether Ken will actually be like that one guy, and successfully convince the judge that those are grounds for divorce.
PS: I hope not, this is supposed to be a funny comic. XP
We have no traffic cameras in Germany. You can’t have seen me.
HOW DID YOU KNOW? It’s that Google-into-car-view-thingy, isn’t it?
But now, my wife knows the difference and would never use Phasers against rebel forces.
And the guy in the backseat is my son, allright. I already have these bladed hubcaps and rotating license plates.

Even if this were true and they were being observed from the mirror, the driver would still be on the left. The only way that they could possibly be in this orientation is in a car in which the driver sits on the right
In addition to the fact that the evidence that I just gathered from a sample experience supported my hypothesis, the logic isn’t behind your point. In order for your statement to be true, then a rear-view mirror would have to magically reverse the images it reflects, making driving dangerous and difficult. The proof of this is that standing in front of any given car in the US, the driver seat is to my right and the passenger seat is to my left. Looking in a rear-view mirror while driving, the driver behind me is directly behind me, on the right side of his vehicle.
I happen to be an experimentalist, personally. And as I am a cab driver in the US who read this discussion on my phone this morning, I experimented. And Crow would be correct.
Actually Splat is correct. If you held up a newspaper the writing would be reversed, that’s a given. However stand in front of any mirror with a friend with you on the left side and your friend on the right. As you look in the mirror who’s on what side? You’re still on the left and your friend is still on the right.
We’re so used to assuming we’re looking at the page like oncoming traffic, it’s hard to do the mental flip to a rearview mirror. My first thought was “if I were looking at this from the back seat, the driver would be on the correct side.” then, “So I suppose if I were in the back seat watching mom and dad in the rearview mirror, it would look like that.” to finally, “well if it works for a kid looking into the mirror from behind, it should still work as a rearview mirror view from the car in front.”
Perspectively, it would help if the frames actually looked like a rearview mirror instead of being standard panels.
But for that I’d have had to have known it would cause a difficulty in the first place! Us arteests are used to looking forward, backwards and sideways at the world.
A great skill to have as an artist but it may prove bothersome when filling out a T4 or a FORM 1040 for those in the Family of States
[ just as dysfunctional as a regular family but with more hot air ]
When did they move to a Commonwealth country or someplace else that drives on the left? Not many right-hand-drive cars make it to the US nowadays (or ever).
Star Wars vehicles all seem to be single, or tandem seating, or otherwise agnostic on driver position.
I bought a little gadget called the “Roadway Equalizer” a few years back. You can stick it on your dashboard, and at the push of a button, you can wipe out your highway foes with the sounds of a ray gun, laser, bomber, or machine gun! Mwa-ha-ha! >8^D
If your car’s electrical system has the oomph you could always just add a truck or boat horn behind the front grill. Guaranteed to get attention if used sparingly and mounted in a small car.
Beware, Ken, I have you in my sights… if you are are driving the Nebraska I-680, not California. Yeah, there are actually two I-680s. Also beware, Ken, If you go too far north-east to get into Iowa on I-680, you wind up in big trouble because the interstate is still washed out where the river flooded. Full reverse! Full Reverse!
Yeah, not sure about the right side driver’s seat. Maybe it’s an old postal truck?
While everyone else is hyped about the mirror issue and some on the Star Wars/Star Trek confusion, let me be the first to say that I love Connie’s last line. It describes my dad and big brother very well!
Here’s a rear view mirror image that should help settle the mirror argument. http://tinypic.com/r/2evqo2a/5
Jenn – imagine that you are driving, and this is what you see in the mirror – which side is the driver on?
Crow – Hopefully this falls under fair use.
If he were driving on the right side of the road the picture would look just like my rear view mirror because we drive on the right side of the road unlike you mob. As it doesn’t look right nor the same as my rear view image then Crow must be right because you do drive on the right side of the road. Which is just wrong!
Better late than never department: I didn’t see anyone else put this forth, so here goes… As far as I recall, we’ve never seen what Ken does for a living. So maybe he’s a postal-carrier, and he’s bought an “English-Style” car to facilitate reaching the mailboxes!?

I think they’ll weather the storm.

I see all.
Unless they’re in the UK, Japan, Cyprus, or certain parts of Africa…isn’t he driving the car from the wrong side?
They’re in traffic. You don’t think there’s any way they could be observed like this save through the rear view mirror of the car ahead, do you?
Even if this were true and they were being observed from the mirror, the driver would still be on the left. The only way that they could possibly be in this orientation is in a car in which the driver sits on the right
Mmmmmm, don’t think so. Easy experiment to run.

I think you must be more of a theoretician than an experimentalist
I happen to be an experimentalist, personally. And as I am a cab driver in the US who read this discussion on my phone this morning, I experimented. And Crow would be correct.
Theory must bow to experiment!

Exactly. Which is why he is incorrect. His assertion was that Ken must be driving a right hand drive car. And that is decidedly not the case.

unless its a old car from the early 1900s or a mail truck or even one imported from UK XD
From the “everybody’s a critic” file, is it a new thing that they have a British car? (Right side driving)
Ah.. CarWars, I so dreamed of the day we could arm our cars…
Always liked the ram plate myself.

My wife doesn’t appreciate it, though.

push him off the mormon bridge, now that it is back open.
i live outside omaha, and i would totally have crow’s back,.
Three… there’s one in Ohio, too. But California’s is the best.
Wait. They’re British? The steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car!
Check my earlier reply, my friend.
Uh-oh, she slipped out a Star Trek reference in a Star Wars environment! EVERYONE TAKE COVER!
Phasers on stun!
While everyone else is hyped about the mirror issue and some on the Star Wars/Star Trek confusion, let me be the first to say that I love Connie’s last line. It describes my dad and big brother very well!
And a bunch of others as well!
Uh Huh.
Well, it’s cute you are so convinced. I’m an empiricist, myself.
Who are you replying to?
Dunno, but I’m a neo-empiricist (reformed) myself.
Nah, stay away from disintegrators, the power consumption is horrendous.

Hi from down under.
Better late than never department: I didn’t see anyone else put this forth, so here goes… As far as I recall, we’ve never seen what Ken does for a living. So maybe he’s a postal-carrier, and he’s bought an “English-Style” car to facilitate reaching the mailboxes!?
Nope, he’s not a postal worker.
Oh well, I tried.
And no need to worry about right hand drive – the arrangement is quite correct, as viewed in the rear view mirror of the preceding car
Yes, after I re-read the whole thread and noticed Essem Dei’s tinypic, I saw what hadn’t really caught before.
