Book burning isn't something that appeals to me, regardless of who's burning what. And not just for a single reason; it's weird on a multitude of levels. Enough so that this week's Not Just Nicky offerings have been devoted to the topic.
The toons will be appearing in a combined fashion since I think they do build on each other and I want to be sure when someone comes in they don't just pop into the middle of it all.
Tune in on Friday for the dramatic continuation of ELF The Author.

Well, given the scrambling of the original words of the Qu'ran, the new book really was meaningless, so I guess the humor of this strip still rose, like the smoke of that burning book, above me.
I'm honestly not sure how to interpret that …
I do really wonder how many will understand what you were burning and who burned it. It was simply words and even those that love those words might miss who them. Burning any thought, written or not, is very wrong. I hope this opens more eyes than just mine.
Well, if there's any misunderstanding about what got burned then it's beyond me to clarify it. Seems pretty well laid out from where I'm sitting.
I believe you are wrong.
When you are not careful about what you put into your head, some of it sticks.
Really poor ideas which cause disaster ought to be destroyed by any civilization wishing to survive.
Must be true. So far all civil8izations have done this to potentially dangerous ideas.
That's the funniest thing I've ever read XD I'm cracking up!
Heh… I take it that this strip came out soon after that idiot preacher wanted to burn a copy of the Koran?
Oh, and any organic chemist will totally disagree with Nicky’s logic. I’m a medical student, but we got this hammered into us enough in undergrad; “structure = function.” It’s not the atoms a molecule is composed of so much as the order and way they are connected which gives rise to the properties of the substance and which divides one chemical from another. (Example… the chemical structures of ethyl alcohol and dimethyl ether are the same, but the two are very different chemicals).
So it is the same for language.
Doh… the chemical formulas are the same. (going to bed now)
Right you are.
I hate people who burn books not just because I love books, but also because when you start the burning with books eventually you get to burning people
